I got a speeding ticket (on my birthday, no less!) I thought that my court date was coming up soon and was fully planning on going in and talking to the judge. The judge will typically reduce it down $100 or so. Basically, I was still driving in the 45 zone when I was photographed, not in the 30 zone, and I was going 41 mph. I have a good driving record. So I'm confident that the judge would lower it, at least some.
Anyway, I just called to confirm my court date and it's not until June 24th. It's a Wednesday. That will be my second week back at work, and I'm only working W, Th, F. Normally I would just take a 1/2 PTO day, but I don't think I should being that it's my 2nd week at work. Obviously, I would like to save $100 if possible, but I think at this point it's more important for me to be at work impressing my boss.
Question: Would you take a 1/2 day and go to court to save $100 or so, or should I just suck it up and mail them a check for the full amount? It's $235. WWYD?
TIA
Re: WWYD, speeding ticket/missing work?
Try calling the court and rescheduling. Even if it's still on a Wednesday, it might be more like your 6th week back at work where it won't look so odd/bad to take some time off.
Good luck, I hope you win! I fought a parking ticket in court and it took for-ever and was such a PITA.
Same here, I'd definitely contest the ticket.
