So my sitch could get a WHOLE lot worse

Just received the following email from the head of my office (I'm located in STATE1 in ABC Region):

As some of you may know, XYZ Corp is currently proposing a reorganization.  I don't know when this will become effective.  What I do know is that this reorganization will eliminate the ABC Region.  The proposal is for STATE1 and STATE2 to  fall under a new region, DEF Region, managed by NEWPERSON.  STATE3 will be moved to a different region.  At this time, I do not know how this will affect our current operations.  NEWPERSON is planning on being in STATE1 on June 15 and has requested a morning meeting with the staff.  As I find out more information, I will pass it along. We all have a good deal on our plates right now, so I am asking that you stay focused on the tasks at hand and not worry about how this will change our operations.

  • "I am asking that you stay focused on the tasks at hand and not worry about how this will change our operations." Indifferent

    Seriously?? Is he kidding?

I'm so sorry! I hope it all works out.

  • weird that mgmt. would send out such a vague email.  At my office, no one knows anything until the shiit actually goes down.  It helps from drama and worry.  I think that is odd.  Sorry you are in such a situation! YUCK!

Great way for you all not to freak the f&ck out. I know I would be if I got a letter like that. As Jessi said, I hope it all works out.

  • The task at hand should be looking for a new job.

    Good luck!

LOL seriously. So they are not talking about eliminating my office per se but I work in a very small branch office where more than 1/3 of us are overhead. So if we are not supporting our region anymore, they may "trim the overhead fat" I would think from a financial standpoint. Guess I'll find out more on the 15th!

  • Thats just ducky.... I love the "you maky not have a job in 2wks, but I wouldn;t worry to much about it."

I agree 100% get your resume out now. And if you retain your job then great, if not you are ahead of others looking for the same position.

  • Oh mah goodness!  Yeah, nice a-holes - "Don't worry, just business as usual.  Focus, focus, focus - even though you may lose your job soon."

What was the point of putting that last sentence in there?!  Why even make an announcement until you know definitively what's going to go down?  Why make people worry unnecessarily?

Anywho, dusting off your resume certainly couldn't hurt at this point.  Maybe start calling around some recruiters or employment agencies just to get a feel of what jobs, if any, are available in your area.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.  You've been through enough!

  • So sorry hopefully plans change and they dont get rid of your section
