Hello ladies,
I have two girlfriends who have been in my life for a very long time. We were discussing baby showers one weekend and they said they wanted to throw my family shower. (I am having a seperate "friends" shower as my extended family is huge and my BFF is throwing it)
Anyway I said sure why not, that is very nice of you. They also say that both of them celebrate their anniversaries in August so we would have to figure out a date (I work every other weekend as well). One of them called me and said how bout the first weekend in Sept, which is labor day. I thought about it and decided that I didn't want to have my shower during labor day weekend, and my mom and MIL would be happy to do it instead. So I emailed them both and said I really appreicate the offer, but why don't they just come to my friends shower and then they don't have to worry about doing the family one, as it seems August is a busy month for them.
Am I being a b****? I do appreciate it, but I also feel this about me and not their anniversaries, and they are not family so to speak....I feel bad but at the same time I just don't want my shower labor day weekend, and in the month that I am supposed to deliver. I should also note that my dad's 60th birthday is the last week in August so my family would have two things within a week....
now that I write this I sound so ungrateful...
Re: am I being unreasonable???? (kinda long)
why don't you ask if they could do it in July? Just say that Sept is cutting it too close.
But who the hell needs to have the whole month of August blocked out because of anniversaries? All I need to "celebrate my anniversary" is one night out for dinner.
I should say that my other shower is at the end of July so I think they were going for afterwards, but who knows.
I didn't mention this because I thought it was b***** but they weren't the best bridesmaids either.....
BraveAngel just had an "after the baby was born shower" (its def not called that!) and said it was really fun. Maybe they could do something like that?
((HUGS)) I know its tough to work around other peoples schedules and priorities.
I did too, and it was wonderful. Everyone got to hold the baby.
The only Easter Bunny I can get behind.
