Kaiser VS NuvaRing

So my doctor told me today that Kaiser does not usually cover the NuvaRing. WTH? DH has the best insurance in the world cause he works for the city and we don't even have co-pays. She said she could say that other birth control methods don't work for me, which is true, I got preg on the shot and on the pill, then they might cover it. Stupid. I guess I'll just go back to planned parenthood and get it for free. But still WTF? Why cover everything but NuvaRing?

    I don't know what Kaiser is, but I don't think it is that uncommon to only cover certain prescriptions. Insurance companies usually have a formulary ( I think that is what it's called) that lists what they do and don't cover. You should check it out.

    We have pretty good insurance, but it doesn't cover the NuvaRing either. But, I love the NuvaRing, so we just suck it up and pay it. Actually it doesn't officially cover it, but I think we get a little bit of a discount with insurance. ?

    If you really want to use it, you should just pay out of pocket for it. But there are other options that Kaiser covers, like an IUD. Ask your doctor about other options that might work for you.

    I'll pass on the IUD. I've had enough things go through my cervix lately and I don't want DH to feel the strings.

    You said you lied to get free BC in your Wic post. Are you going to do that again to get it free from planned parenthood?

    I have Kaiser as well and I was really upset that they don't cover the NuvaRing. It was going to cost like $175 for 3 months! WTF? That's just ridiculous. Since my insurance ends in June I'm going to have to go to PP to get my birth control & for my 6 week post partum appt. I hate going to planned parenthood ~ hopefully I'll get the Medi-cal approval first.

    Exactly this.

    And the NuvaRing is expensive, which is probably why it is not covered. Suck it up and pay for it. God knows you don't need to bring anymore children into this world. ?

    Hate to break it to ya, but you can still feel the ring, and your cooch will smell like plastic.
