FINALLY!
It all started on a sunny May 6th, FI and I went to my weekly appointment. I was swollen, huge, hot, and uncomfortable. After sitting in the lobby for over an hour, I was finally taken back. They did the usual tasks. I had a protein in my urine, high blood pressure and piting edema. He did a quick internal and sent me over to L&D, I was barely a fingertip.
We get to L&D, I began my first 24hr urine and spent the night in L&D. We were scared, it was sounding like I was going to be induced that night. The next morning, my swelling had decreased dramatically and my blood pressure was a little better. So they moved me into a regular room on the maternity floor.
Fast foward from May 6th to May 18th, throw in a canceled induction, ultrasounds, blood taking, internals, and science experiments. I developed an unmangable headache, my only relief was a demerol shot in the ass. I ended up doing three 24hr urines.
May 18th - they finally take me out of my prison cell back over into L&D for my induction. That evening they started the cervidil, it wasn't bad, just slightly uncomfortable going in. Around 2:30 Tuesday morning, I started having contractions. They weren't awful, I could grunt through them. Around 5:00am they came in, I took a shower and they started me on the pitocin.
Pitocin sucked. They explained that I could not have an epidural until he could get in there and break my water and I was no where near being progressed far enough, my cervix was an iron fist. The contractions were back to back and I started crying and grunting like a dying moose.
They came in and gave me stadol through my IV. It didn't help much, I would sleep for an hour at a time and wake up with contractions. FI was a great help, he would feed me ice chips, rub my head and hold my hand. My grandma came and pulled up a chair and watched me wither in pain, she was eventually banished to the waiting room.
They came in and checked me throughout the day. I was not progressing, my cervix had not changed one bit. My cervix is an irritable biitch.
At 4:00, my doctor came in. He asked me what I wanted to do, I yelled for him to get this kid out. I wanted a c-section. No more hospital bed rest, no more pitocin. They took me off the pitocin and I continued having contractions until they walked me down the hall to the OR room.
I get to the OR room and they had to re-do my IV, the one in my right wrist had gotten puffy. They put the new one in my left hand. The IV hurt worse than the spinal block. I didn't even feel the spinal block after the numbed me. They got me all geared up to be gutted and they let FI in. We held hands and he rubbed my head, I was getting really sick on my stomach, cold, and sweaty. I started to hurt from laying on the table.
Finally, at 4:58pm on May 19th, Dillon made his long awaited appearance weighing 7lbs 6oz and 20 inches long. He is so perfect and so beautiful.
FI went with him to the nursery and I started shaking and gagging on the table. I was started to freak out, I thought something happened, however I learned it was completely normal.
We stayed in the hospital a few more days, I was having an ungodly amount of swelling but, my blood pressure was back to normal.
I also stopped throwing up on May 20th. I threw up from conception until the day of my csection.
Recovery hasn't been awful, I feel great now. Yesterday, Dillon weighed 8lbs and .5oz, he is 21 1/2 inches long and has a headful of brown hair and blue eyes.
My stomach is back to normal, I only wish my ass and thighs would follow suit.
Re: Hospital bedrest turned induction turned csection/pre-e
