Success after IF

When did you move baby to their own room?

I know this has been asked before, but please humor me. We are trying to have DS sleep in his crib in his own room tonight for the first time. His room adjoins ours. I am feeling sad about it, but I think it's time.

Re: When did you move baby to their own room?

  • DS was 2 1/2 months old.  I was going to do it at 3 months but I got a cold and decided it was a good time to do it then so he wouldn't be right next to me if I was coughing.  The first couple of nights I put him in his crib and then brought him back to our room after feeding him in the middle of the night.  After the first couple of nights, I got brave and put him back in his crib.  It was harder for me than him!  He's doing great.. I think he even sleeps better.  It was the right time for us and it's really nice not having to tip toe around our bedroom at night now!!

    Good luck!

  • And I wanted to add that I NEVER could have done it without my Summer Video Monitor.  I LOVE that thing.  It is so great to just look at it if he makes a noise and I can tell if his eyes are open or closed (and he's just moving around in his sleep).

  • Ds has napped in his crib since day 1.  But, I didnt want to give him up at night until 4 months and that was tough!  Our room is adjacent to his and I have a video monitor, but I just didnt want to let him move Sad  In the end he loved it, had no problem, just me with the prob lol.
  • We are planning on moving him at 3 months...I don't think I will be ready until then.

  • We moved him at 2 months.  I have a regular monitor and we are just down the hall!  I usually check on him a couple of times before I go to bed too.

  • 5 weeks and never looked back.  Great decision for us, before she was too aware of her surroundings.

  • We moved Ava when she was two months old. ?Her room is really just a few steps from ours, so it wasn't a huge adjustment. ?She took it like a champ (didn't even really seem to notice the difference!), but I checked on her constantly (and missed her like crazy) the first few nights. ?

  • We transitioned dd at 4 weeks.  I was really hesitant to do it that early but DH started putting her in her crib when he'd put her down for the night.  When she'd wake up to eat I'd bring her back into our room and put her in the PNP.  It went on like that for about a week and I finally started putting her back down in her crib. It took awhile for me to adjust but now she sleeps great in her crib and I'm glad we made the transition.

    Good luck tonight!

  • 6w1d. This was the day we met with the GI specialist... she suggested that Ethan's discomfort might be lessened if he slept on his belly... I was willing to try it, but the idea of him on the fluffy and not tight fitting pnp sheet really made me worry, so I moved him to his bed. That night was the first night he slept for a 5 hour stretch... he sleeps WAY better in his crib, starting from that day!
