dd smacked her head on the floor - i suck!

i offically suck! i went to get another toy for dd while she was sitting up & playing on the floor( i was in the same room.. only a few feet away from her) & she fell backwards & smacked her head on the area carpet which was covered by a blanket... but underneath is a hardwood floor. i feel horrible & like offically the worst mother ever!  she cried really hard for about 1 minute & then seemed fine... but still... my heart!

  • Oh hon, don't sweat it!!!

DD went for a period of time of tipping forward. The first time it happened she was in the bathroom siting on the floor, I went into the hallway to get a towel and she fell forward, hit her face on the door and turned over on her back and hit her head on the floor :(

She kept doing stuff like this for like two weeks... I turned around and "boom" :(?

  • Ds has done this more then once... He belly scoots around and he lifted his head and hit the tv stand... didn't even phase him. I think I was more worried then him... he just looked at me and smiled...

yeah.. g.. seemed stunned at first.. then the water works started!

  • That's just the beginning. Your DD will smack her head many more times unfortunately. It sucks but it's all part of them learning what not to do and how to fall, how to get down, etc.

  • Prepare yourself. In the coming months, they fall A LOT! DD fell out of the bathtub (and yes I was right there) because she tried to climb over! Accidents happen, don't beat yourself up too much.
  • The majority of our house is wood floors and if I had a dollar for every time she's smacked her head on them! It just gets worse too. She cracked it plenty while learning to pull up and now that she's walking, she'll walk straight into the edge of a wall trying to leave a room with her focus fixated on something in the distance. • Don't worry, DS got his first goose egg today.  He was trying to pull himself up to standing on my arm while we were in bed watching a movie this morning and he let go and fell back into the headboard.  The goose egg went away within a few hours and he was as happy as could be.

  • Wow, if that makes you the worst mom ever, I'm in the 10th level of hell.  My DS does this, no joke, a couple times a day.  Well, he doesn't fall, he head-butts the hardwood.

It really sucks, but she will be fine, I promise!

  • My DD fell out of the computer chair onto the kitchen floor and hit her head today - I was stupid to leave her sitting in there for 2 seconds & she started to crawl forward and fell head first. She cried - lots, but 10 minutes later was her normal self with a goose egg on her forehead and a bruise on her cheek. It was about a 1 foot drop.  I still called the pedi and am checking on her now that she's asleep. Totally freaked me out.
