Christian Moms: When did you do LO's baptism?

I got the paperwork in the mail today from my church to do DS's baptism. We are planning on waiting until early August for the baptism so that my family can attend. (They live out of state). He will be almost 3 months old. How old was your LO when you had them baptised?

  • I was 2 months when I was baptized, DH was 5 months....it's pretty much whenever you want to do....people of all ages are baptized, so it's more a matter of what works for you....unless your church has restrictions on baptism ages for infants.

  • 2.5 months.
  • My DD was born on12/24/08 and we are having her baptism 6/28. She will be 6 months. The Catholic church prefers having it done by 3 months, I was reading in the brochure, by that is what worked for us.
  • 4mo1wk, but my mom was hassling me that i should have done it sooner.
  • dds baptism will be in July.  She'll be 4 months old.

  • 3 1/2 months - timed that way because it was the first time we could get all the family members in from out of town.

  • Our church just sent us the paperwork too -- and our LO isn't even born..yet! We chose August 16th - he will be almost 3 months old and it works out because out of town family will be here.

Thanks again for being my labor buddy. I am going to email you this afternoon so I can text you tomorrow. Still can't believe tomorrow is the day!

  • griffin was 3 mos.

we're not sure when we'll do the twins- b/c one set of god parents does not live in the states year round.

  • He was 8 weeks.  I don't think 3 months is too long to wait!  Enjoy the baptism!  That is one of my favorite memories of DS's newborn days. :-)

I really want to wait until spring, but Henry will be about 7 months old. Has anyone done it this late?
  • I'm planning to do LO's baptism in February when DH is home for R&R. LO will be almost 7 months old.  Ideally, I would do it earlier, but February is when DH can be here, so that is when we will do it!

  • Ours is this weekend!  They will be 4 months (+1 day).  I tried to schedule it for around 3 months, but we couldn't get the logistics together.
  • ds was close to 3 months. ?I think the same will be for this baby
  • We baptized Patrick in Germany when he was 12 months old.

  • My LOs baptism will be when he is like 7-9 months old. My brother is the godfather and is in college. He is going to be doing a semister in DC, so we are going to wait for him to be done with the school year. I wouldn't want to make him drive up for a day. It's a long ride.

  • With Colin, he was about 8 weeks old.  This one will probably be around the same.

Colin wore and this baby will wear an heirloom gown - so I can't wait really long, otherwise the gown would not fit LOL.

Unless your church has a restriction of when a baby can be baptised, most people just do it when it is convenient for them.  I know someone that waited for about 6 months, just so they can have a BBQ party, instead of a party in the winter.
