Trying to Get Pregnant

Update on me...

For those following my story - I just got a call from my doctor's office with my CD3 bloodwork results.   EVERYTHING IS NORMAL (e.g. FSH, LH, prolactin, thyroid and estradiol - all perfectly normal).  I am very happy, but so confused.  wtf?  How could I have just had an 85 day annovulatory cycle that ended in a nice dose of provera - and all my hormones be normal?    Anyone else have something similar happen?  I thought for sure I had a helping of PCOS, but they're thinking it's less likely now.

  • I'm so happy that everything checked out, and it isn't PCOS!  Weird about the annov cycle though...

I hope that after that good news, this is the cycle for you!

  • I'm sorry you didn't the answers you needed/wanted.  But yippee to normal results.  I'm thinking about you and hoping things get figured out.

    WTH!

Don't get me wrong--yay for no PCOS, but really? What could it be?

Do they have a plan for you this cycle or do they just want you to keep going at it naturally?

  • Maybe that Provera kinda slapped the machine, you know?  Like when the TV doesn't work right and you get frustrated and hit it?  At least right now everything looks good... maybe you'll get lucky this cycle!  GL!

I share your frustrations! I don't have PCOS either (I only had slightly elevated test. but it was still in the normal range) and I have no idea what is wrong with me.

My doctor said that there are some cases that cannot be explained...at least with the science that we know.  I do agree with the PP, the provera may have knocked things back into order.  My doc said that it can jump start your system. Hopefully this cycle is shorter and most importantly ovulatory!

I know - it's just so freakin strange.  I think there is still an outside chance that it's mild pcos, but unlikely.  I MEAN, wtf else could it be.   Plan is to do U/S and more bloodwork on cd14 (to check follies,etc.).   Next cycle there is talk of IUI - but was going to see how this cycle goes before they decide if it's medicated or not.

  • Thanks for all your support ladies - you all mean the world to me.    And re: provera resetting (lol at the slamming the TV reference) -  I did ask if provera would make hormones look normal when they weren't and she said they wouldnt impact hormone levels.   But you're right - maybe it was a cycle reset.   I sure hope so.   Thanks.  xo

  • That totally just happened to me!  I had no period (and most likely no ovulation, but I was not charting so I don't know for SURE) for like 90 days.  I had all those blood tests done and everything came back normal.  The only thing my saw was that my progesterine levels were low, but it could be low because of where I was in my cycle.  They also gave me provera to start my period, which worked before I even finished taking it, and now I am waiting to see if I display signs of ovulation and if I get a period on my own.  My midwife says that sometimes all it takes is a dose of provera to "goose your cycle into startinI am waiting for my new thermometer and ovulation strips to come in the mail (hopefully today) so I can start charting and see what I can figure out myself!g" and then it is all normal.  I hope that is the case for both of us!  Isn't it frustrating to not know for sure?  I am so glad that it is not PCOS though!  Congrats and hang in there!

  • glad it's not PCOS. Hopefully it just reset everything and things will work as they should.

  • I am glad you can rule out PCOS. I hope the U/S results from CD14 give you some more answers.
