Camille/Camilla- opinions on & pronunciation help

I think of the 2 I prefer Camille- but am not sure. These are names my husband loved and I didn't, but slowly (38 weeks in LOL) they are really growing on me.

1) Do you like these names and if so which do you prefer? Why?

2) How would YOU pronounce them (especially Camilla)

I think Camille is pronounced (Cuh-meal)

Camilla I am unsure of whether it is Cuh-mill-uh, Cuh-meal-uh, or rhymes with Pamela so Camel- a (which I hate that last pronunciation, however when I googled many people said that was how they pronounced it)

I pronounce Camille the same way you do. I have a friend named Camilla and she pronounces it Cuh-mill-uh so that's how I always read it. I think I prefer Camille.

I've only heard Camilla pronounced so it rhymes with vanilla. Definitely never heard it pronounced camel-a.

I love the name Camilla (as in vanilla) but my DH vetoed it. He and my nieces think it's old "lady-ish." I like Camille too and have only heard it pronounced the way you have in mind. I don't think you would go wrong using either one.

1) I actually like both of these names, but I prefer Camille.

2) Here's where we differ - I'd pronounce Camilla: 'cuh-mill-uh' or 'kah-MIL-ah'

and Camille: 'kah-meey' or 'kah-meah' (and not 'kah-meal').

1) I like both names. I have friends with both names as well - my friend Camille (cuh-meal) goes by the nn Cam. My friend Camilla (cuh-mill-uh) goes by the nn Milly. Personally I like Camilla a little better.

2) See above for how I would pronounce them and how my friends names are actually pronounced.

I LOVE Camille and pronounce it Cuh-meal, like you said.

I like Camilla a lot, too. I pronounce that Cuh-mill-a.

DH & I are opposite of you and your DH. He is the one that is unsure, while I definitely want Camille on our short list.

I think I like Camille better because when I hear Camilla, I automatically think of Camilla Parker Bowles too lol (and it's supposed to be pronounced Ca-mill-uh).
