anyone with chronic heartburn??? help.

this happens every single night when i lay down. sharp pains, feel like i have pressure in my throat...i hate it. mostly i am scared because i know that if it's chronic it can lead to esophageal cancer- i know i'm getting ahead of myself, but i've had it for a year and a half. obviously it's not pregnancy related anymore...anyone else have it-- what do you do?? thanks!

  • If it's that bad I would talk to your Dr about going on prescription meds.

You could avoid eating whatever foods it is that trigger it.  I use a lot of Tums. Drinking milk seems to help. Lay with your head propped up.

  • I've had that problem too.  Talk to your doctor for sure.
  • Yes, I was diagnosed with GERD several years ago and took Nexium throughout my pregnancy. ?It's not really working anymore and I've been meaning to call the dr. but haven't gotten around to it. ?She told me while I was pg that Protonics (Protonix?) was the next step up but if that doesn't help, we should look at surgery. ?I'm not very excited about this.

    Protonix worked wonders for me
