With school wrapping up, how many of you have summer jobs now? Everyone I know keeps saying 'lucky you, summers off' and I then explain to them that I also have a summer job. Anyone else not really get a summer "off"?
i'm actually taking the summer off this year.....wahoo! not teaching summer school or doing another job. ?my DH wants me to take a break. ?i'm doing curriculum development for a few weeks, but that's it.?
and p.s. teachers earn a freakin break! ?i say, if you have to work with snotty nosed, screaming, emotional disordered 6 and 7 year olds all day (that i love).....it's in the best interest of the world for me to take a sanity break! ?
I work at a camp for one week, and then have a few trainings/workshops throughout the summer. I am also in grad school, and will be taking two classes along with and ESOL certification course.

I most definitely agree! I have an inclusion classroom, so it's a little different, but I still feel your pain.
I'm waiting to hear about enrollment to see if I have a job teaching summer school. I am also waiting to hear if I have been accepted into a Master's program, so right now I'm just waiting...
But prior to this, no...I have never taken a summer off. This is the end of my fifth year teaching.
for the past 2 years I did summer camp but i realized I need a break from being with children all they long all year long
I am not working this summer but taking three classes. I will get paid $1100 for one of them (perks of public school) and I might try to find a fun part time retail job since I have always been interested in fashion.
This is the first summer I'm not working and/or taking classes. I finished my Master's this winter & just didn't want to do anything! I usually work at my family's grocery store, but this summer told my dad I only wanted to fill in. We'll see if I get bored!

I've worked every summer. This year instead of working 3 days for 4 hours I am working 5 days a week 6 hours a day. Last year we struggled through the summer and don't want that to happen again. I am also the type of person who can't have off that whole time because I will go nuts! I will still get 2 weeks off before school begins and that will be more than enough time for me!
I take my summers off. I choose to get my salary spread out across the whole year, so I still get my pay check in the summer. Actually, I get a bit of a RAISE in the summer time b/c they don't take union dues out of our paychecks the months we're not working! (I know it's not a real raise, but it feels like one when I stop working and my check amount goes up!)
I'm especially excited for this summer b/c it's so long...we get 13 weeks off!!! Sooo excited for Friday to be over!

It took 44 cycles, just over 3 years, 6 failed IUI's in MI, and 1 round of IVF at CCRM to get our BFP!

I work at Disney during the summers! I hate when people tell me I am lucky I have the summers off. Idiot, it isn't paid! No money for 2 months does damage to my shoe and purse fund.
Re: teachers...
I work all year but i work with animals so it's all good. They keep me going
I hope the summer is at least a little better for you.

We don't have summer school at our school, so at least I get away a bit. I lifeguard and tutor though, so I still see a lot of my kids.
I can't find anyone that will hire me for the 8 weeks we have off!
I decided that summers off is a perk of being a teacher and i should take advantage of it!
On occasion I do tutor sometimes, but I'm sorry to hear that you are working.

I opt for year round pay so I dont have to work summers. ?I have a large chunk taken out of each check. ?
I would like to work this summer to get even more but we are moving.?
