Best formula for breastfed babies?`
The doctor told me to use either Enfamil Lipal or Similac Advanced.
I'd like to know what your opinions are. I'm hesitant to stop breastfeeding because I'm uneasy about the problems with formula.
Help!

I've heard Nestle Goodstart is most like breastmilk.
What problems with formula are you worried about? DS was on Similac Advance for the first 9mo, then we switched to generic. Never had any problems.

DD has been on formula since she was born and she is fine..... we use Similac.

do they have a target brand of good start? if not what did you buy instead??
If you aren't going back until the fall, you could maybe pump and freeze enough to get her through to 1 year old (since she'll be what...9 months when you go back) and then just go straight to regular milk. That's what I would be doing if it were me in your situation.
That said, my dd has been on formula since 6 weeks old because my supply took a major dip, and I was not able to keep up with her need at all. Every formula will claim to be most like breastmilk, so if you are looking for that, then you have alot of choices
We use Similac Advance with early shield and she does just fine on it. When we first switched her over she had some constipation issues but within 2 weeks she was "regular" again.
Just the regular Target brand, Up & Up. I compared the label of Up & Up, Goodstart, Enfamil Lipil and Similac and they're all the same thing. The goodstart powder is finer looking than the Target brand, but I haven't had any clumps in his bottles of the Up & Up. He also gets breastmilk and I was worried the switch would upset his tummy, but actually he has not spit up once since I switched him, and he usually spits up after every bottle.

I started my son on Similac Advanced but it didn't seem to sit well with him so I moved to the Similac Sensitive, which seemed to just make things worse. Now I'm supplementing with the Gerber Good Start PLUS and I like it far more than the others. He spits up less and his bms are closer to when I was bfing him exclusively.
It always depends on the LO of course, but Good Start's whey protein is partially broken down during processing by essential minerals, so it makes it easier for baby to digest.
