Working Moms

NE1 work P/T or Job Share here?

I just got approved for a job share when I return- i'm SOOOOO excited! My pay will be cut in 1/2, but my benefits (including my company car) will remain the same- it's a sweet deal.

i am so excited i'll get more time with my boys... Griffin will be in daycare 3 days a week  every week- and the twins will be in 2 days a week and with my mom every other week on the 3rd day when i have to work- that way i'll get one day every other week alone with the twins (which will be nice b/c they kinda get screwed on mommy time simply b/c they are twins)

Just wondering- do you love it? I have a feeling I'll love the days I work- b/c it will be "Me" time- and love the days I'm with them- b/c i'm with them and not working.

It sounds great. One of the reps I know just did something very similar. The fact that you can keep your bennies is fantastic, especially the car!

  • I work 3 days/week and I absolutely love it. ?I work Mondays through Wednesdays so I get a good chunk of "me" time-- I love my job, love working and like to get dressed in a suit, hang with adults, etc. ?I also really feel like I spend alot of great quality time with DS-- we have 2 days alone and 2 days with DH. ?It's really the perfect situation for me- I have zero interest in staying at home full-time but I wasn't keen on working 5 days/week. ?When my kids are older, I'll go back full-time but this is works really well for now. ?
  • I don't job share, but I do work PT, and I think you'll love it too! I worked FT from the time my older DD was a baby until a month ago, and I never even really minded it, but after having # 2 it became so much harder (so I can only imagine what it will be like with twins + 1). I am so lucky that I found a great PT job that I started a few weeks ago. It is wonderful! Its seriously a whole different world than working FT. I have so much more time with the girls, but just life stuff too, like it's so much easier to schedule appointments and things having a weekday off. I'm not sure what your schedule will be, but I work 4 short days, and am off Wednesdays, and its perfect for me. Just when I get sick of working it's time for a day off, and vice versa! Also, I get out at 3pm and don't have to pick up the girls until 6:30 - most days I get them right away, but I really like having the option to go grocery shopping, run errands, etc first if I need to. Anyway - I could go on and on - me working PT has significantly improved our whole family's quality of life. I will say that we've had to really tighten our budget, which I'm still getting used to, but it's totally worth it.
  • I started working PT almost a year ago and I love it!  I work M-Th 8-3 and I feel like I have the perfect balance.  I get to work and feel like "me" while still bringing home a nice salary and I get 3 days off with DS.  I don't drop DS off at daycare on Fridays even though we pay for it just because I Iove spending the extra time with him but when DD comes I might start taking him for 1/2 days just so I can get a little one on one time with her.  I'm sure that reducing your work schedule with defiantly help you feel balanced with 3 small sons.
  • Thats awesome!!  I think you will love, you have the best of both worlds...
  • I work 3 days/week and was able to keep all my benefits. Hands down- I aboslutely love it. My salary was cut, but keeping my benefits was key for us. I feel like I have a really nice work/life balance and for that I'm so incredibly fortunate.
