How hard is it to install a carseat?

I just got the Britax Boulevard and am so excited! We're in the middle of moving, so DH is in another state until next week. I want to try to install it, but am afraid to take the old one out and then not be able to put the new one in properly. Then, I'd be really screwed. Is it that complicated?

  • not hard at all. just make sure you follow the manual.
  • Loading the player...
  • The infant seat was an absolute P.I.T.A....but the convertible one was a piece of cake.

  • I have the evenflo triumph and it was easy to install, but I couldn't pull the strap tight enough so I told MH that he needed to check it before I put DS in it. sure enough it was too loose as I suspected.

  • I think our Britax seats are easy to install.

There are videos on youtube and on the Britax website to help with installation as well.

  • I am having problems with the latch hook on mine, but I just used the belt until MH can look at it. Other than that no problem

  • Also, don't forget to tether the seat as well. The video will show you that too.

I usually latch the seat, then basically sit in it (or kneel) and pull the latch tighter. You just want to make sure the seat doesn't move to much.

  • Very easy! Look over the manual and you'll see.?

This.  I swear it took forever to install the infant seat.  DH installed our Britax a couple weeks ago and it was much quicker/easier.

  • I'm assuming you are RF... and I don't use the back teether on the Marathon or Roundabout (not sure if Bulevard has it).

Make sure the seat is reclined enough (your manual will tell you how to do that) before you put it in, then situate it on the seat. I found that loosing the latch belts on the sides makes things easier. Then secure the belts on the little hook latch thingies (you may have to feel with your fingers first so you know where they are). Once it's in there, get up on the seat with your knee so your body weight helps make the seat tight in there, and pull on the leftover belts on each side until they are tight and they don't go anymore.

Why wouldn't you use the tether?

  • I just did it! Looking at the video instructions really helped. Thanks for the advice!

  • There was no way of hooking it up to our seats up front so the firefighter who checked out our carseats said it's fine if we don't use it.?
