Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Diagnose my son.

The last week or so he's had bumps (they actually look like small zits) in different places on his body.  They started on his back (and faded), now he has very small ones on his cheek and neck and larger ones on his feet.  The only real change to his diet lately has been the addition of milk to his bottles (although he's had it in small amounts in his sippy for the last month).

Anyone have any ideas?  I'm going to ask about a milk allergy at his 1 year appt - he doesn't have any other issues though that I can see.

  • Has his appetite decreased or is he having trouble swallowing? Are there any spots on the bottom of his feet or in his throat? These are signs of Hand, Foot and Mouth.

  • We are having the same thing. some little bumps on her neck and elbows but some larger, very red bumps behind her ears and on the back of her head. They've been there since Saturday.

We are seeing the pedi today for her 15 month check up. I'm going to ask her and I'll let you know what she says when I get home this evening.?

  • Good questions ladies. He is cutting 2 teeth right now, one of which is a molar, so it's hard to tell what is a symptom and what is his teething.

Hmph.  I will call the pedi and see what they think.

  • The majority of the time a rash is just a rash with kids.  I wouldnt be too concerened as long as he is eating, sleeping ok.  It would annoy me not to know what was causing it though!

  • DD's been getting some tiny little pimple-like bumps on her face for the past week or so. I've been thinking maybe they're from sunscreen now that we're using it all the time.

DS had something similar. Our pedi leaned toward it being a virus because it didn't look like an allergic reaction. It ended up going away on it's own in a few days.
