Safe meds for allergies

I've been slammed by allergies the past couple of days.  Mostly I've got a horribly itchy and stopped up nose, watery eyes, and lots of sneezing.  I'm going to swing by the store for some medicine on my way home, but I've never dealt with this before, so I have no idea what to take at all, much less what is safe when pregnant.  Any advice?  Thanks!

Re: Safe meds for allergies

  • My Ob suggested that I take Zyrtec

  • mine said Benadryll and Claritin.

    (also Allegra is ok)

  • I've been carrying around a bottle of Benadryl everywhere I go -- it's the only one my doctor specifically mentioned as being safe.
  • my dr approved benadryl.  this is also stronger than claritin.

Ask the pharmacist what they suggest. ?They should know these things!

  • I'm too scared to take anything!

Allegra-D? (fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine) is considered a pregnancy Category C medicine by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which means that it has not been studied in pregnant women. However, when studied in pregnant animals, the medicines within Allegra-D were shown to potentially cause harm to the unborn child.

Allegra and Allegra-D are a bit different. Allegra-D has decongestant which may be the issue. Just use plain Allegra.
