So i was on the desktop last night and heard a loud "pop" sound. DH made me shut down the computer. Well this morning there are weird lines all over the screen and the monitor keep going off and on. I hope it not the monitor. Its a brand new $300 moniter.

He says its the video card that exploded.

Wow. Do you have an extra video card you can throw in there to see if the monitor is still ok?

If not, you can always connect the monitor to the laptop, just to make sure. I would be scared it might be affected since it was plugged into the card that blew up.

Sounds like it got too hot. That's not good.

He just showed me the card, its definitely exploded, something about capaciters?? He did plug the monitor in to another computer and it worked.

and I hope it was the newer capacitors that don't leak. Otherwise, you might have a bigger problem. It doesn't stink in the computer area does it?

He says they didn't leak. Its a newer card. I didn't smell anything when it exploded.
