Parenting after a Loss

Here we go again.

It's been over 2 weeks since I have had a plugged duct... and well here we go again w/ another one.  It's getting so tiring getting them.

Re: Here we go again.

  • I hear you. This is the second time in the last two weeks I've had to bring my heating pad to work before I could pump. I seem to be getting them all the time lately.

  • Are you emptying all the way?  I had to add some time to my pumping schedule at work in the beginning because I wasn't emptying and I kept getting plugged up.  I also had to switch to one sided expressing so I could massage it during pumping time until it cleared.

rachelxx05 told me about this and it worked wonders for me.  Put hot water in a disposable diaper and use that as your hot compress.   It holds the heat so much longer than a washcloth.

Have you talked to an LC about this?  It might be something really simple to fix like wrong-sized pump flanges not allowing you to empty all the way.

I spend 20 min pumping at work.. which is as much time as they will give me.  In a sense I'm lucky because it has been over 2 weeks since my last plugged duct (I used to get a few each week and have had mastitis 3 times already).  I have talke to a LC and she did suggest switching the breast sheilds.  I'm wondering if I have to go up yet one more.  Another thing is that last night I got to sleep in longer then I have had slept in - DD slept longer so I did not pump for a longer time and I'm wonder if this had something to do w/ it.

  • I tend to get them when I wait too long to pump, so that makes sense... I'm trying to wean off of EPing, so I've got one right now too. ouch.
