Trying to decide on first name....clicky poll

Ok so we have the name narrowed down. The only thing that we are struggling with is whether we should give our little girl a formal name or just leave it at Lily. Either way we will call her Lily. But I can't help but wonder if I should give her a formal name so that it doesn't look weird on resumes to employeers someday.

Lily. It's definitely cutesy and girly, but seriously - it will be fine on resumes and college apps. It annoys me when people name thier kid one thing, just so they can use a nn they like.

"we named her lillian so that we could call her lily." Doesn't make sense to me. That being said - I really like both names. But name her what she will be called.

I would do Lillian that way she does have a "grown up" name for resumes and things like that. Otherwise you can call her Lily and no one would ever have to know it isn't her actual name.

Agree with many of the previous post. Lillian and then you can use the nickname Lily or Lilly and she can have flexibility as she gets older.

If you like Lily, name her Lily. Who knows, she may decide as a teenager that she wants to go by Madison. That's what happened with my cousin....for the first 14 years of her life, she went by Michelle (MN), then in high school, she wanted to be Leah (FN). So now, all of her friends call her Leah and family still calls her Michelle.
