  • I weaned off of formula first and once I didn't have to measure I went to cup.  She did great with both.

  • I was just going to do it all at once and drop a 1/2 a bottle a day and sub it for a sippy of milk but in the end I decided to take it easier on her digestive track and get her used to milk first. Then we switched to a straw cup cold turkey and she's been weaned since about 11.5mos.

    This exactly.

  • We did a gradual transition to milk, so I'm not sure she even noticed.  We're still not weaned off of the bottles, though.  I think she'll start showing signs when she's ready.

  • We did it together.  I replaced a bottle of formula with a sippy of milk.  Our pedi said not to put milk in bottles or formula in sippies to cut down on any confusion and make the process go faster.  I did one bottle per day per week, so it took 4 weeks to make the total transition.

We did this too. Bottle to cup is a lot harder. For the formula to milk, we dilutted, and did half formula/half milk at first, until it was all milk. Then started with sippy cups that had nipple like tops, then to silicon sippers, then to the hard plastic lids.

  • We did it at the same time. He had no problems at all.
  • We are doing breastmilk to milk first. (Right now we are mixing them). I tried to do the sippy cup too and have tried several times but she tastes the milk more in the sippy (since the nipple on the bottle means it pretty much goes straight down her throat). When I give it to her in the sippy, she acts like it is the worst taste ever and spits it out. In the bottle she doesn't even notice. She loves water in her sippy so I know it's the taste thing still.?

I made sure he could drink easily from a sippy cup before starting the transition. When I started making the transition to cow's milk, I would give him 2 bottles a day (first in am, then just before bed) of formula only. Then at meals, I mixed different ratios of cow's milk and formula in sippy cups only until he was drinking milk only. He didn't really care if got bottles at that point. I don't know if I was lucky, or if doing it that way was the key.

We did this too.  DS hated the bottle and loved milk though, so it wasn't a tough transition.  He had already been getting water in a sippy.  He does still get a bottle before bed, but we'll be getting rid of that soon.

  • formula to cow's milk was not a problem at all for us.  We did that one first and then three weeks later did bottle to sippy.  It was a lot harder with tantrums for a week or two (but we did it cold turkey, I never offered the bottle if he refused his sippy).  Then one day it clicked and he never cared about his bottle again.

    GL!
