Clicky poll: when did you turn the carseat forward-facing?

I made this anonymous in case anyone has made the controversial move to go forward-facing early, or earlier than most.[Poll]

  • DS is still RF and will be until he hits the weight limit for RF on our seat.  I don't know what age that will be. :)

  • What about those that haven't. You didn't make an option for us.

DD is still rear-facing and will be for quite awhile.

** Nevermind, I see an option now. Wink

I just added that option. But really this post is for those who already have so that I can see when most people made the switch.

we are the same.  we will RF until we hit the limits for the seat, so we haven't turned FF yet.

  • We are still RF. We won't move him for a while. He's tall and still seems completely comfy.

I doubt anyone admits to that openly. If then, I bank money on them blaming the ped for saying it was 'ok'.

  • I picked haven't decided yet since we haven't turned it but I know it will be 18 months or later.

  • DD still hasn't hit the weight for turning her around (although we'll see tomorrow at the Drs), although we'll keep her RF until she hits the weight limit of the seat (and at the rate she gains weight, she'll have to learn to drive rear-facing!)
  • I answered the poll for my DS#2 because I have no intentions of turning him until he is at least 2 y/o.

However, I turned my DD at 16.5 mths because I didn't have room for 2 rear facing seats in my car, had I already had my minivan at the time, she would most likely still be rear facing at 2.5 y/o. DS#1 I turned at 11mths because quite honestly, I didn't know any better. I definitely have The Bump to thank for my new found knowledge of car seat safety.?

  • Still RF'ing... no plans to turn them anytime soon.
  • I voted for "18 months or later", since DS is almost 20 months old and he's still RF.  We won't turn him until he hits the weight limit for RF on his seat.........which is coming up soon and honestly makes me nervous because I don't really want to turn him.  RF is sooooo much safer than FF.

I don't understand the huge rush that some parents feel to turn their kids.

     That was me!

I am so just playing!!   We switched DS FF 4 days after his 1st birthday.  We got the graco nautilus.  The main reason why we switched him is because I only have a 2 door car so it was a pain in the arse trying to get him in and out.  But once I get a 4 door car (which wont be for a year) we will switch to RF.

But DS does sit RF in DH car.  But we are very rarely in that.

  • He's 15 months and is still RF.  We'll keep him that way until he hits the height limit of the seat because that will definitely come before the weight limit of 35lbs.  He's got a good 3-4 inches until he reaches the top of the seat and he grew one inch from his 12 month to his 15 month appt (we went this morning)...so I'd be thrilled to have him RF until 2 years (but ideally, as long as possible).
  • I picked "haven't decided yet."  He is way under the weight limit so it will be awhile.  Dh would prefer to turn him FF soon, but I make the rules!  I would say 2 years.
