WDYT and what nn?

My husband NEVER has any input on what to name our child (unless it's something outrageous).  Today, he said, what about Scarlett for a girl.  I never liked this name, but when he said it for some reason, I really liked the way it sounded.  What do you think?

And what would be some nicknames for this name?

Re: WDYT and what nn?

  • I LOVE the name Scarlett.

I would love to use it but come from a huge family of Ohio State Buckeye fans and would get teased incessantly (their colors are Scarlett and Gray)

I'm not a fan of NN, it's a pet peeve of mine. But if you wanted to go the NN route you could use Carly.

  • I like Scarlet/Scarlett. I live in the south, so it reminds me of Gone with the Wind. Personally, I don't think Scarlett needs a nickname since it is only two syllables. Any nicknames I can think of for it are still two syllables, so there isn't really a point in shortening it (Etta, Carli, etc.)

A lot of people that like Scarlett also like Charlotte. It has a less harsh beginning sound and the nn Charli/Charlie.

  • I hate it and I hate that ppl might shorten it to Scar. (Like Char for Charlotte- which I love a million times better.) Sorry!

  • I think it's a beautiful name...sounds very sophisticated.

    Ditto?

  • I kinda like it.?
  • I like it. I would probably use Letty for a nn.
