cake recipe ideas

i am planning on making the cake for DS's bday. ?i am going to make a Crazy Cake b/c it's what my grandma always made for our birthdays. i plan on doing a vanilla version for DS b/c i don't want him to have chocolate. ?

so here's the question: will a white cake/frosting show up in the "cake smooshed on the face" ?pics? or should i color it? and if i color it, should i use food coloring or substitute a fruit puree/juice for the water? ?

?TIA. I'm thinking about trying it out tomorrow (mainly b/c i want cake).?

    i would color it.

    food coloring may stain.  you could try the fruit juice tomorrow and see how it works :)

    I did a white cake with strawberry yogurt as the frosting (I froze it for a while between frosting and serving so that it would set). ?I then decorated it with polka dots. ?I found that the more colorful it was, the more my daughter was interested in it. ?I colored my dots with fruit puree and it worked just fine. ?Wasn't as vibrant as food coloring, but we didn't mind. ? :)
