I am new to the board...I've been on the knot and the nest, but just found the SJ bump board!  I thought I would say hi!

    I was looking at that this morning...!

    How are you feeling...I went yesterday for my 36 week check up and the doc told me I was 1cm dilated already...Scared me half to death! 

    Any advice from other moms/moms to be on what this really means would be much appreciated.

    I'm OK - my back is killing me. My Dr thinks he may be on my sciatic nerve - fun stuff.

    I have my first internal next week (37 weeks). 

    From what I hear - 1cm dilated doesn't mean much. My friends were 1cm the week they went into labor. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    I was 1cm dilated and 70% effaced for two weeks before I finally went into labor, five days past my due date. Not fun!

    I was 1cm dialated at 37 weeks too and never got past 3 when I was induced at 39 weeks, so really it means nothing. Your body will do what it wants, when it wants. Good luck!
