Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Table food help

My son is a few weeks shy of One.  He has been super slow to appreciate table foods.  He eats puffs, mum mums, teething biscuits, and now waffles and bread.  However, he refuses to eat vegetables, fruits, cheese.  I put these out with all of his meals, but he throws them on the floor, he wont even give them a chance and put them in his mouth.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Am I alone with this?  He won't eat any baby food purees anymore ( which I guess is a positive thing in a sense ), but clearly his meals are not "balanced".  I am hoping that if I keep putting fruits, veggies, etc on his tray he will eventually eat them?  Any thoughts?  commiserating?

Thank you!

Re: Table food help

  • have you tried using a mesh feeder?
  • Loading the player...
  • no, do you think he would be likely to try a food if he was curious about the feeder?
  • most definitely! i started the mesh feeder with something in it that he liked (pineapple) and he flipped out!! (in a good way! he LOVED the mesh feeder)
  • I will try the mesh feeder, thank you!  I just put the food in, like a chunk of it and he will suck on it to explore??

  • Could he be teething? I had almost given up on solids b/c DS wasn't eating anything, just BF. After a couple of weeks he went back to eating solids no problem.
  • What about a cheese quesadilla? I will hide veggies in them with the cheese for DS and he loves them!
  • I guess it would be hard to hide food in the items you mentioned he will eat, but I have been using leftover purees on sandwiches or I mixed in a jar or pureed carrots in the meatballs I made. You couldn't tell a difference. I think I will continue to do that.
