gross! (MIL vent)

ILs came to visit this weekend and MIL kept trying to help out with everything, which was helpful at times--not so helpful at other times. The main not so helpful part was when she decided to wash all the bottles (something I would never ask her to do) and apparently, she just filled up the sink, let the bottles/nipples soak for a few minutes and then rinsed them without scrubbing them with a brush or anything. Let's just say they were far from clean. It was really gross...

So then, because DH's family doesn't communicate and we can't possbly risk offending MIL, I had to get DH to distract MIL whenever I was getting a bottle ready (which of course, she wanted to do) because I had to rewash it without her noticing what I was doing. I'm so glad this weekend is over Confused

  • Ugh..that is gross. I'm sorry to say, I giggled when I thought of having to distract your MIL while you washed bottles! Hopefully she is easily distracted, but I suppose a cute baby will do the trick!

  • Everytime I visit my ILs I am gross out by the fact that they use the same sponge to clean everything, it's old and smelly and not clean itself.

I wouldn't hesitate to tell your mil (in a nice way ofcourse) how you need things to be done.  Say, "the pediatrician says..." :)

  • That is gross.  On the flip side at least she helps with the baby.  My ILs live out of town and came to visit about a month or so ago.  They did not change a single diaper and handed DS over to me or my husband as soon as he started to cry.  My FIL only held the baby twice and that was when my MIL handed him the baby!  MIL is coming again in August and I'm not looking forward to it!
