Cough medicine while BF'ing?

I woke up yesterday with a miserable cough - feel fine, but the cough hurts!  Is there anything I can safely take that won't make my supply tank?  I did see the list of "ok" meds on kellymom, but wasn't sure what the effect was on supply. TIA.

    I think it's the "drying" effect that some medicines have, my mind is at a blank for the ingredient right now.  You could always ask the pharmacist which cough medicine is best, probably one that isn't for drying up mucus.  However, if it comes down to it and things are getting worse it's probably best just to take the medicine so you don't get more sick.  Have you tried cough drops and hot lemon water?

    I took Poly-Tussin & Hycodan (had terrible bronchitis a couple of times while bf'ing) & both were fine.  Never took any OTC.  LactMed is a wealth if information & if you still can't find what you are looking for just ask the pharmacist to look it up for you.  Good luck!
