We just realized that my favortie name so far (Callie) is a no-go . We have a niece named Halle and just naver thought about it until now so DH vetoed Callie. Boo!??We both LOVE Isla Marie but I have a very annoying aunt by that name and the last thing we want is to name a child "after her", lol. So Marie is out ?Any good choices you can think of???
That's funny - that is what I was going to say - like Madonna's song La Isla Bonita (The Beautiful Island). Funny cause now I have that song stuck in my head.
Tropical the island breeze All of nature wild and free This is where I long to be La isla bonita And when the samba played The sun would set so high Ring through my ears and sting my eyes Your spanish lullaby

But I think when the name Isla is used, it's pronounced "eye-luh", not ees-luh.

Ah ha...my bad. I have never heard that before - "eye-luh". Different.

I think Isla is a pretty name and you've gotten some good suggestions for a middle name to go with it, but I really wouldn't have a problem with Callie/Halle. It's not like they're sisters and it would be all cutesy ... my DD and my niece have the same middle name (Jeanette after H/BIL's grandmother) and we diodn't think twice about it.
Just sayin'! If you like the other name I don't see why you shouldn't go for it.
I like long middle names with short first names, like Isla Elizabeth or Isla Margaret. Also, I know you said Marie was out because of this, but are there any family names you would like to use? I love family names for middle names.
I love the name Isla. It was one of my top picks if DS turned out to be a girl. My only point of contention with it is the mispronunciation since it's not that common of a name (yet).

Re: Middle name for Isla?
I think it depends on your last name, too. But you don't have to share that with us.
Isla May sounds nice.
I just realized that's probably because it sounds like Ina May (I loved her childbirthing books when I was pg...lol)
