3rd Trimester

Anyone have PGP?

Pelvic Girdle Pain.  I just got diagnosed with it at my last appt and just wondering how it's going to affect the rest of my pregnancy.  I have scoliosis from birth so they said that probably played a big role in this.  They also told me that I might not be able to carry to term?  My due date is Aug 20th but they are shooting for the 10th... Why would this be?

PGP is similar to SPG I believe, but it's the back of my pelvis, not the front.

Re: Anyone have PGP?

  • I have an appt on monday and I am going to ask my Dr about this. I suspect I might have one of these conditions. I had extreme pain with my DS but I was just staying home at the time, so I could live with it. No problem carrying him to term - he decided to come at 41 weeks.?

Now though, I have to work and this is actually bugging me a lot. I have been having serious problems (since week 20) to walk, drive, sit for too long and stand for too long (too long as in anything longer than 1h, more or less). We had a bbq for Memorial day and by the end of the day DH had to help me get up and turn because I was crying in pain.

I don't have scoliosis but I heard from a physical therapist many years ago that I was "all crooked" whatever that means.. I heard that in some cases going to to chiropractor might help, but I am going to ask my Dr about that on monday.?

  • DON'T LET THEM TELL YOU IT IS SCIATICA!  I've gone through it over and over again with my OB telling me that it was sciatica but I went in and told her, 'This is what I have.  I don't have shooting pains down my leg, I have very severe pains in my lower back.'  She finally listened and said 'Oh yeah, I suppose that could be it.'  Do your research on it and if you don't feel like you got the right answer, keep trying.  Sorry, I don't mean to preach but it was really hard for me to hear that I was just making up this pain.  I have days where I literally can't walk.
  • Oh yes, I understand. I know what sciatica feels like because I had them as well later in the pregnancy with DS#1. What I am feeling right now is not on the back of my thighs.

It is commom for me to walk like an old lady most of the day.. getting in my SUV is troublesome because I haven't been able to lift my legs too much for a couple months. I just want to get some relief! I don't think I have PGP but I might have SPD, because I don't feel much of anything on my back yet, the pain is mostly around my hips, like it was really coming from the bones, if you can understand. I sometimes hear and feel some popping sounds when I move my legs or squeeze my butt cheeks together.

I have a few friends who are pregnant and they all seem so fine (before I thought it was just a normal part of the pregnancy), but now I am starting to realize that I am the only one in the group having these problems. Thanks! I will let you know how it goes on monday.

  • I swear I have it but my MW keeps telling me it's nothing and that all women have a back ache.  I can't do anything without pain and I wake up crying in my sleep it hurts so much.  I have an appointment with a chiropractor Monday that specializes in pregnancy back pain so we will see what she says.  I don't think it's my spine it feels like it is the back of my pelvis.  We are not crazy.  I have been waddling since 12 weeks and the pain has been for about 6.  The worst part is that my house is on two levels so I have to use the stairs a lot (livingroom and bedroom first floor kitchen and office on the second)
