Thanks everyone for the sewing machine tips - PIP!

Thanks for all the tips on what supplies to get last night.  I went to Jo Ann's today and picked up a bunch of stuff. My fabric from fabric.com came in the mail and we got the sewing machine all set up.

I'm not going to lie... I had to read the instructions about how to plug the thing in and start it up...so you can see how I knew NOTHING to start! I've been working hard all afternoon (thank goodness DH has sewn before to help me out some!) and here's what I've got so far:

Cloth wipes (bamboo/cotton terry cloth and flannel)

And two of the Purl Bee birdies for the mobile I am making:

I think I'm addicted! ;)

    Nice!!
  • Fantastic!  They're all beautiful!

    Welcome to the addiction.

    =)

  • I think you did extraordinary for a first day beginner!

I remember people not being able to sew a strait line or threading the machine backwards for over a week in home ec!

  • Thanks everyone! I'm really excited and had fun.  Not perfect, but for the stuff I am doing it works for now.  The little birds are so small and will be hung so things like stitching details aren't super important ....yet!
  • Wow - Looks great! Yes Glad the sewing machine is working for you. Good choice on beginner projects, too.
