Only Pedialyte for 24 hours??!!

We brought our DS to the pedi this morning because we suspect he has reflux.  The pedi thinks he may also, but wants to rule out a possible allergy to something that I may be eating (and passing via breastmilk).

So...his suggestion was to feed DS ONLY pedialyte for 24 hours.  If his symptoms remain, he has reflux.  If he seems better, it likely means he has an allergy (the we will then go about identifying and eliminating).

Did anyone else have to do this?  I am thinking I am in for an ab-so-lute-ly miserbale 24hrs (because no food=miserable baby).  Does anyone else have experience with us and any words of advice/wisdom?  Maybe it isn't so bad (wishful thinking)?

I fear the next 24 hours...

  • we did ony pedialyte for 3 days because of the stomach flu to prevent dehydration and he was fine as far as being hungry.

  • It's not horrible but you will find you are feeding him more often because pedialyte won't fill him up as well as BM does.  Good luck!  And I hope you figure out what is causing the problems!
