Love it? Hate it?
This is one thing I just can't make up my mind on :sigh: We want to use an infant-rear facing carseat, but all the travel systems, while pretty on the eyes, seem SO bulky. Is a huge stroller like that really necessary?
We're looking at the Graco Quattro Tour deluxe travel system. I keep seeing people saying that their babies sweat in the fabric in the carseat. Reviews otherwise are mostly positive - but I would like to hear from you ladies first hand.
Thank you!
Re: Which stroller/carseat do you have?
I have the Chicco Cortina (in Sahara, a color scheme I love more every time I look at it!).
The stroller is kind of bulky. We have a 4runner and the thing takes up the whole trunk area. But it doesn't feel big in stores (I can navigate really well even in tiny stores like Hallmark). I love, love, love the car seat. The buckles are so heavy duty and secure feeling (vs. any others we played with in stores). I also like how all the buttons, lever, and gizmos on the travel system/ car seat and base all snap into place and unsnap reliably. Lots of times I'm only working with one hand and really need things to work the first time (even if my execution isn't perfect). This system gets it done.
Good luck.
We got the both parts but had to get them separate.
I'd recommend the SnugRide 32 and the Snap-n-Go stroller.
I have this car seat and love it. I used it with DD#1 til she was 10-11 months old, and now I'm using it for #2

And single stroller I have a baby jogger city series with the car seat attachment. I love the stroller but the car seat attachment wasn't very good with the car seat. The seat wasn't secure so we had to rig it up ourselves when we used it. But the stroller I loved without it.
For a double stroller we now have a mountain buggy and I am in LOVE with it. We have the car seat attachment and it is VERY secure!
We have a Britax marathon and a Chicco Cube Stroller.
We didn't get the travel system since I have a bad back and wouldn't be able to lift the infant carrier.
I love the Chicco, its very smooth and great recliner for DS.
The Britax the only complaint I have is that it seems its a bit tight on the lowest level for DS . It doesn't bother him but to me it seems tight.

We have the Graco Snugride carseat and Baby Jogger city mini w/ carseat attachment. I love love love the stroller. It's lightweight, takes minimal trunk space, easy to manuver, works well on bumpy surfaces (a must for me since I like take DD for walks) and closes with one hand. It's worked well for us with the carseat attachment. The only con is that the basket is tiny.
We also have the Graco Quattro Tour and it's collecting dust in the garage. I used it twice and it was way too much effort to haul in and out of my trunk and took up too much room (we have a camry).
We skipped the infant carseat and got a convertible that we felt would work for an infant, Britax Decathlon. Our stroller is for 3 months and up, Maclaren Triumph (11 lbs). We love both.
If you want an infant carseat, I would go with the Graco Snugride, and get a snap-n-go. Once you are done with the infant carseat (probably not a year, more like 5 or 6 months) go stroller shopping.
I have a chicco Keyfit 30 infant seat.
I have a rockstar baby stroller that we use mainly because it has a bssinet feature but it's bulky and takes up my entire trunk space in my 4runner.

I also have a Britax Vigour stroller which has a rear or forward facing seat, like my rockstar baby stroller, but it's lighter and folds up to be more compact. We bought this because we travel a lot and can't always have our stroller take up so much space.

We went back and forth for months about stroller/carseat. In the end, we decided against a travel system - they're huge and bulky and don't have any personality. We got the Graco Safeseat (discontinued now, but pretty much the same as the Snugride 32) and the Bumbleride Flyer. We love our stroller! It's blue and green, bright, and I've never seen anyone else with one. Like PP said, you can flip the handle so baby faces you and the handle height adjusts easily. If you're a matchy-matchy person, they sell carseat covers so your carseat matches the stroller. We don't care, so didn't bother with the expense.
I would probably recommend a Snap N Go for quick trips to places like Kohls/Old Navy. They don't have carts to pop the carseat in, but I'm generally not there long enough to want to get the big stroller out. For $60 (you can get it cheaper on Craigs List) it's a pretty good investment.
Carseat-wise, I would pay the extra money to get one that goes up to 30 lbs/30 inches. Otherwise, you're spending all this cash to get a seat that may only last a few months (the 22 lb limits). We considered a convertible, but being able to take the car seat out of the car for trips to the grocery store and Target has been really helpful.
