For the past month I've been having pain in my shoulder blade area on and off. It's been getting worse over the last week and yesterday it intensified so much that I couldn't turn my head or lift my arms well without extreme pain. It hurts regardless of what position I'm in. dh had some 800mg ibuprofin left from a sinus infection and gave me that. It didn't touch it. I went to bed with a hot pack. Slept like crap.
Dh had to work today, he's gone. I'm home alone in the same condition that I was in last night. I'm dying- I think I may try to go to an Urgent Care office today. The only time I was good was when I was standing in the HOTTEST shower I could stand.
What could be wrong?? I haven't worked out or done anything prior to this starting that should have caused this.
Re: SO MUCH PAIN and ALONE!
I'm sorry you're feeling bad! I don't know if you're an easily stressed person, but I am and I've experienced very weird pains in my muscles before that were so intense I was ready to go to the ER. It happened in my arm when I was a few weeks pregnant and it was so horrible I wanted to die. After a day or so it stopped. I think stress manifests itself in my muscles. So, maybe it could be stress related?
Either way, I hope you start to feel better very soon!
You need to be seen. It could be a pinched nerve or something going on with the bone. But regardless you should be seen.
They will probably give you a muscle relaxer and some stronger pain meds. take them. Get the pain under control and then they can figure out what is going on.
HUGS!
Oh...and in a pinch Vicks Vapor Rub works great as a muscle rub. EOs are better and if you need help on those I can help...but at least get some relief.
My BIL/virtual dr talked to me and diagnosed it at a muscle injury. He first thought possible gall bladder issue but doesn't feel that its that. I'm going to watch when the pain is worse (if it's after a meal or not). If the pain is something that is intolerable he suggested going to get a muscle relaxer from the dr but to take it only when someone is here to take care of ds.
I'm feeling better about the pain- even though there hasn't been anything to cause a muscle injury! Oh well.... he ruled out a lot of serious stuff so that's good.
*ETA: BIL/virtual dr = my bil who is a dr. not a pretend dr. I only say virtual dr bc he diagnosed me first by talking to me online then called to get further information because it is just easier to talk than type for this sort of stuff. *
Getting back to it- my diet and exercise blog
Losing it...Without Losing it
You described, to a "T", the pain I get when one of my ribs is subluxed. You might talk to your Chiropractor, or a good PT.
Get well soon!
