I decided to make my own baby food and do organic as much as possible. Well, my local grocery stores don't have organic fresh green beans and I decided to start DD on beans but they did have frozen organic. She has only tried them once but did not like them at all and I can't really blame her since I never really liked the taste of frozen veggies either.
My mother seems the think the store bought baby food might taste better to her, and now I feel guilty for making her eat my homemade green beans.
What do you think?
Re: Frozen beans...what do you think?
I made DS's baby food and I would often eat some puree along with him. It is delicious (including puree made from frozen green beans). A few times when we were away from home we had to use jarred food. I tasted that too and it is, in my opinion, disgusting. DS agreed - he wouldn't eat it.
A lot of babies have issues with pureed green beans b/c of the texture. And your DD might just not have a taste for green beans yet. If you have the choice, I'd keep making your own food.
ETA: You can also wait until organic green beans are in season and come into your grocery store - should only be a little while longer. And try again with those!
I think homemade baby food tastes way better. Before we decided to make our own, I bought some Gerber Organic green beans for DD. That was the foulest stuff on the planet! Just the smell of it made me gag. I refused to feed it to DD and decided to make my own. I'm sure many of the other varieties of prepackaged baby food aren't as gross, but those beans were!
Anyway, if you want to make your own, do it! I'm sure the food you prepare is just as delicious as that in a jar. Also, babies can be weird about food at first. Just because she turns her nose up at green beans today doesn't mean she will tomorrow also. Just keep trying!
