I am taking three trips this summer. Sorry this is a really long request for advice, but hopefully it's OK because it's about tempting me to shop
:
First a 3 day quickie road trip to Santa Fe with DS and DH. CD-ing, will have to haul all dirties back with us in the trunk of the wagon.
Second a 10 day trip to St. Louis with DS, the first 7 with just us and DH joins us the last 3 days. Flying, but staying with mom so access to washer and drying, so CD-ing easy while there.
Third, 17 day road trip across the country, staying with mom with a washer/dryer for probably 4-5 nights and staying with MIL with a washer and a clothesline the rest with maybe 1-2 hotel nights. CD-ing, should be able to mostly haul clean ones, but will have some dirties.
From Leslie's Boutique (some by way of moderndiapers) I have 2 small, 1 swim, and 1 medium wetbag that we use regularly in our big and wallet diaper bags, depending on how long we'll be out.
For daily use, I switch between 2 WAHMIES liners in a trash can, which is definitely NOT making any of the trips.
My concerns are: (1) hauling 3 days of CDs for the first trip and (2) keeping the changing areas neat and smell free for polar opposite reasons for my OCD mom and chaotic MIL.
Should I or shouldn't I, is there a better option #2?:
This one is a custom hanging pail bag:

(Edited because I found info on what I couldn't find earlier)
Re: Stop me or encourage me!
When we travel we bring our diapers in a big canvas bag. As we dirty diapers, we put them in a large wet bag. We haven't had a big messy area before. The smell- use a drop of eo on a cloth- leslie's boutique has the fleece swatch right? If not, we have pinnned a fleece swatch into a bag- i pin it to the seam so it's not creating a 'hole' for the moisture to seap out.
I hope that helps a bit. If you had a basket that you could travel with, that may be helpful to keep the diapers together too. We like the big bag because it closes and we can just throw it in the car and not worry. Good Luck!

Losing it...Without Losing it
i would do all trips with cds. i have brought back 4 days of dirties from camping, and they were a bit stinky. this year i'll be bringing some baking soda which really helps with the smell when we are at home. i don't think you need a hanging wetbag unless you want to buy one, i have always put clean dipes in a laundry basket or large bag, and dirties in my pail liner when traveling (minus the can). it works great. i would be worried that a large wetbag wouldn't hold enough. that's the one downside to cds... they do take up a lot of room.?
?
good luck, and have fun on all of your travels--i'm jealous!?
