High-Risk Pregnancy

***MCGMK**

I saw your post on bedrest and it lifted my spirits that there is a chamce for a full term for us IC ladies! What great news and what a relief for you! If you don't mind me asking...was your cerclage a rescue or the other , the correct term has slipped my mind! They put my rescue in at 18 wks and my husband and i are hoping for at least 30-34wks from this as we didnt have a very optimistic Dr at the time....my HROB is a doll but trys to be realistic and we take each goal in 2 wk increments......i would love to hear your story....congrats again!

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you!!  Here's my story:

When I was pregnant with DS I had unbelievable pelvic pressure at 24 weeks.  I went to the ER and found out I was 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced.  I was sent to another hospital and had him 10 days later (25 weeks 3 days).  He's doing amazing now.

With this pregnancy, my doctor knew what steps to take.  I had a cerclage put in (not a rescue) at 15 weeks.  I had a permanent one put in (Shirdokar method.)  This was because with DS, I had to have a classical c-section (vertical insicion on uterus.)  I was immediately put on bed rest.  I was on bed rest for 12 weeks.  I had weekly cervical checks and my cervix has held steady at 3.2 cm.  At 27 weeks, my doctor lifted some restrictions and put me on modified bed rest.  He eventually allowed me to go back to work part-time.  My c-section is scheduled for 37 weeks....this is because of my previous classical incision. Oh,
and since my cerclage is permanent, of course it won't come out when I have my c-section.

Bed rest and the cerclage have been a saving grace for this pregnancy.  I know for a fact that without them I would have had another preemie.  Do everything your doctor says and you'll make it!!!!  There is hope for us IC ladies!!!!!
