Breastfeeding

nursing strike question

I had a stomach flu over the weekend and I believe a supply drop so I was supplementing LO with formula (I don't have a freezer stash) and now he is refusing to nurse.  I am assuming this is a nursing strike and has to do with preferring the ease of the bottle.  I keep offering the breast but ultimately resorting to the bottle since he is obviously still hungry.  Do I keep offering the breast and hope that he will get over it?  Any advice?  Thanks!

Re: nursing strike question

  • Yes, definitely keep offering him the breast - and make sure you're pumping after every feeding. Also, what kind of a nipple do you have on the bottle? Get the most 'slow-flow' one available.

  • Keep offering the breast but also be prepared for rejection.
