My sister is planning my shower and mentioned egg salad sandwiches... ugh, the thought of that makes me want to throw up!

I need other ideas besides the finger sandwiches that keepe popping up on google!

Re: Tell me your menus!

  • Our plan is to grill hamburgers (and hot dogs for the kids) and do homemade french fries.  Then probably fruit/green/pasta salads of some sort.  And lemonade.  And desert - root beer floats and cookies.

    I'm not the fancy type...

  • I just threw two showers this spring.

At shower #1 - We did a soup and salad theme. Several different types of homemade soups, pasta salads, tossed salads, egg salad, chicken salad and had rolls and croissants so people could make sandwiches if they wanted. It went over really well.

Shower #2 - A little fancier. We went for an all h'ors deuvres menu. I bought a gourmet variety hot h'ors deuvre pack at Gordon Foods (they were amazing!) and mini quiche with some cold foods like fresh veggies, grapes and cheese and a crab dip on crackers. People loved it. We had some friends of the dad to be bring the food around on trays. It was loads of fun.

Good luck with your shower and congratulations!

  • They're having my baby shower at a banquet hall. So there's a few different kinds of punch, cream of broccolli soup, ceasar sald, tilapia, steamed veggies, potatoes (layered baked with cheese), chocolate mousse and cupcakes....

You can't go wrong with finding different kinds of dips to make, also something small like stuffed mushrooms or quiche is always good.

  • For a friends shower we did italian style...

    Baked Ziti, sald, bread & butter...fruit & veggie trays...dips...the cake of course..etc.

  • We don't do full meals around here... We're doing chicken salad croissants, cheese tray with crackers, fruit salad with fruit dip, toasted pitas with spinach, veggie tray, 2 cakes, fruit tea and punch. I think that's it?

  • I am having a bbq for my shower. Its going to be burgers and hotdogs with potato salad. I will have other sides, but not mostly all bbq themed foods. My first shower is going to be small so I am not going with a huge menu. My second shower I am unsure about.

  • mine is tomorrow (yeah!) and mom did not want to deal with cooking so a friend is catering and this is what we are having:?

cheese and meat tray - im a cheese whore so i am getting spoiled with the good stuff and italian meats

    fruit platter

    baby green salad

    israeli couscous salad

italian press sandwiches ( not paninis, the sandwiches are kept overnight in the fridge with weight holding them down) meat and grilled veggie

    risotto balls

DH and friend are bartending - mimosas, vodka lemonade, mojitos and all sorts of non alcoholic stuff - I think dad bought a lot of booze for an afternoon shower but Im thinking it was all for his benefit :)??
