dd will be 2 next month. she has a lot of individual words and will repeat anything she wants to still not as clear as an adult but we can tell what she is saying. she is just starting to get more 2 word phrases. anyways my question is does your toddler repeat his/herself? dd will say baby baby baby baby over and over. I always respond and she just keeps going. baby is just an example, she does this with most things. she also will add a letter to some words like apple is "bapple" and up is "pup" and milk is "nilk" and open is "mopen" or "bopen". is this common?
Re: is this common for toddler talk?
English is a very difficult language. It's hard to get the words out that start with a vowel, so many kids will put a "hard" sound in front of it. Like Bapple.
At any rate, it sounds like your DD is normal.
totally normal. she's practicing words... trying out different sounds, ect.
DS said "Daddy's tools" for over a half hour, over and over one day - "daddy's DOOTS!" - it was like he was so proud of himself that he could say it that he just kept doing it - no matter what my response was.
Now he'll say things over and over until I repeat it- it's like he wants me to confirm that I understand what he's saying before he'll move on to something else.
changing the beginning or ending letter of a word is totally normal, too.
