1st day on insulin = fail

We are almost 32 wks and my numbers (esp after lunch and after dinner) have been slowly climbing past 120.  I've had a few good ones but they still wanted to put me on insulin.  Today after dinner and after lunch (and after my 1st two shots), I've had my two highest numbers ever 144 and 139.  Dr. said just "try it" for a few more days to see how I do.  Are they supposed to be higher at first?  Couldn't find anything online.  TIA!

Re: 1st day on insulin = fail

  • You probably aren't on enough insulin.

What is likely happening is that your pancreas is taking a break - so until you are on enough insulin, your numbers won't be perfect.

Also, are you 100% positive of your carb counts/serving sizes??
