Why did you get into that job/career? (was a dream? did you fall into it? etc) Almost all my jobs have been working with crime victimes. I was working as a caseworker for Social Services and worked with several victim advocates at the DA's office. The unit I worked in for social services only dealt with sex abuse cases. I was getting burned out with social services and the DA's office had an opening so I applied.

Why did you get into that job/career? (was a dream? did you fall into it? etc) I've always been attracted to medicine. I started out pre-med determined to be a doctor. After a detour at age 19 dealing w/cancer, scholastic performance became secondary to treatments. Although I did well in college (biology/sociology degrees), it would have been tough to get into med school. I then thought I'd pursue social work but after a short intern, I knew it wasn't for me. Total happenstance connected me to the world of transfusion medicine, and from there, I found my niche.
What is your favorite part of that job/career? the human side of it all....and the impressive medicine involved. I cherish the relationships I have with patients and their families. And the donors are always so inspiring. They are honored to be "saving" a life.
What's your least favorite part of that job/career? While I am good at managing staff, it's my least favorite part of work. This week was tough....dealing w/immature staff is not fun.
What is your dream job? I have many...including my current job. I'd still love to be a doctor, but I know that's not happening! One dream job that I hearken back comes from a college job. I worked at an independent coffee house/book store. I would LOVE to own such a shop. We had the best coffee and food around, we had fabulous authors come in for readings, we had music on Friday nights, and our customers were loyal and wonderful. If I left my current job, I'd love to move up the coast to a sleepy small town, and open such a store.
Best friends and sisters... 24 months and 16 months

Their kids trust me, and the parents trust me to do a good job..and it's FUN to teach kids who are growing and changing so much! I love watching them learn!?
3) It's the perfect blend of working with animals and people. I get to a lot of stuff with the animals but I don't have to clean up their poop all day long!??
