3rd Trimester

BH more painful than the worst period cramps?

I have been having BH for the past 48 hours or so that are much more painful than the worst menstrual cramps I've ever had.  Is it likely that this will persist until I deliver?  Will the gradually become more painful?  Is this something that usually happens several weeks before baby comes?

My BH are not painful at all.

Are you sure they are BH?

  • Why do you say they are BH?  A contraction is a contraction.  Menstrual like cramps on are BH.

  • I was under the impression that BH are not supposed to be painful.  Maybe uncomfortable, but not painful.  Maybe you should call your doc and ask about them?  Have you been drinking lots of water and staying hydrated??
  • My BH usually aren't painful.  They can get pretty intense though.  I would probably ask my doctor about it if they really started hurting worse than period cramps.
  • i have lots of BH and it just feels like a belt tightening around my stomach. they arent painful like you are describing. I would call your dr to make sure, drink lots of water and lay on left side.
  • Hm...I guess I should read ahead in my book! This is all confusing to me.  So theyre actual contractions?  What the heck does THAT mean then?!  I went to my dr on Wed for a check up and they did a NST due to increased BH (or whatever they are) and decreased baby movement.  They said the baby looked fine and that my cervix was almost closed.  I guess I should be timing these?

Defintiely.  Drink some water, lay down and time them.  If they are that painful call the dr to be sure.

  • Thank you all for the advice!  Left a message with the doctor.  We'll see how this goes.  My poor doctor is going to hate me!  Good thing I'm paying her well :)
