So I have been getting pretty bad leg cramps. I'm taking my vitamins and everything, but they are getting worse. They're worst in the morning...what do you do to cope?
I get super bad leg cramps in the middle of the night. I've heard that you need either more calcium or potassium. So I've been trying to eat more bananas and drink more milk, especially before bed. This has helped, as I haven't been getting cramps every night now. I used to wake up in ridiculous pain every night, and trying to walk it off in bloody impossible lol. the banana and milk suggestion came from my mom, so I don't know how reliable it actually is, but it's not like either of those are bad for you or the baby anyway, and if it helps...all the better. Hope this helps!
I have been a banana-eatin', milk-drinkin' fiend and still my middle-of-the-night leg cramps are horrible. I called my doc about it this morning and she said to wear support hose during the day - awesome as the weather gets hot and I want to wear cute shoes - so I will try that I guess.
I find that when I feel them coming on to go to a cold floor (if you have ceramic tile that works great) and put your foot flat down. I tried it last night and the cramp subsided before it really took hold. I'm eating bananas everyday and I still get them a few times a week (especially during/after sex!)
Whatever you do, do NOT stretch your legs out while pointing your toes. This almost always brings them on for me. I get them at night too, or in the morning when I am half awake and stretch with my toes pointed. I heard the stuff about milk and bananas and that didn't do ANYTHING to help me, so try it if you want. And once you have one, if you flex your foot as much as you can, and hit your calf or squeeze it, it helps a little until it goes away. I have officially gotten my first calf cramp with this 2nd pregnancy and I am NOT looking forward to getting them again!
Re: Leg Cramps
