Hi ladies...I can't believe I'll be joining you in like 2 weeks! Where has the time gone?
Anyways. Without getting into all the details, my DH will not have his drivers license when the baby is born. (no, it isn't for DUI, or anything sinister like that, just some mix-ups and DH being dumb right before we got married). Well it will stink, but we are getting past it.
My question is (and maybe I should post this on the 0-6 board), what kind of stuff will I need DIRECTLY after the baby is born? Like the first 2 weeks ish? I'm having a scheduled C-section and besides that, with having a brand new baby, I doubt I'll be up for errands.
For instance, I know that ladies bleed a alot after birth, so obviously I'll need pads. I'll also want to have plenty of food in the house, so I'll make sure to stock up pre-birth. What else can anyone think of? I appreciate any suggetions you may have. I will have a sister and others who can run errands for me, but I want to cut down on it as much as possible.
Re: Question from 2nd Trimester
A pump & bottles in case breastfeeding doesnt go smoothly?
Stuff for bathing baby & taking care of the umbilical stump.
Breast pads for you. Nursing bra or tanks.
Anything around the house you may be running out of soon- laundry detergent, toothpaste, etc.
Trying for #2 since July 2010

Some of these suggestions may help - I kind of asked a similar question yesterday:

But posting on 0-6 is a great idea.
it may be a good idea to make some freezer meals if you guys will have trouble getting out to get food.
thin overnight pads for about 2 weeks, advil, stool softeners and fiber pills we some things i needed after my c/s.
Smart of you to think in advance. I think with a C/S you won't be off the couch for awhile... I don't even think I'll feel like leaving the house for a week or two, even if I have a normal delivery.
Ditto PPs...
Tucks Pads, Dermaplast, pads (for you)
Diapers, wipes, Vaseline & gauze (if having a boy and circ'ing)
Freezer meals are a great idea
I would say it would be smart to take your normal shopping list and "double" it, that way you don't have to run out for any extras... I'd make sure to have plenty of toilet paper, etc.
I think it's a good idea to XP on 0-6.
You'll need (if you are BFing) breast pads, nursing bras, a pump/bottles.
I'd also make sure to have lots of:
-laundry detergent
-toilet paper
-pads
-Baby bathing essentials, lots of diapers (try getting 2 brands to see which works best), wipes, washcloths, receiving blankets, onesies, gowns, socks, etc....for baby.
-portable bouncy seat to put baby in when you go to the bathroom
-somewhere for baby to sleep along with sheets and sheet savers
Thanks everyone. DH and I went through some issues stemming from this. But we are getting past it and your non-judgemental and supportive attitudes have helped. Also, some great suggestions!
Have a terrific weekend!!!!!!!
Make sure you designate someone to pick up your pain meds if the doctors write you a prescription- either on the way home from the hospital or ask someone to fill the Rx while you're still in the hospital and bring it to you there. You don't want to be stuck at home without those after a c-section!
This may be a dumb question but what's dermaplast??
