Priceless mother in law story

My MIL planned a camping trip the week before I am due. She asked my DH to be sure and give her 3 days notice if we think the baby is coming because she needs that long to get her deposit back. And then she asked if they decide to induce me that we wait until they get back to do it. My DH told her that they dont schedule this stuff out of convience but what is safest for the baby and for me. She told him she has had children before and she knows they will work around your schedule if you tell them. She is so extreme, its a little mean of me but I was wishing he would come while they were gone to teach her a lesson. But I think now she has decided to cancel the trip!! Sorry but this time its not all about her.

  • Yes because you can make babies arrive when you would like :)
  • Hey, I think any mom-to-be would love 3 days notice of the baby's arrival too LOL! :)  Wow, your MIL sounds awesome - it would be great if she goes and the baby does come while she's away haha!

  • Ummm a 3 day notice on the arrival of a baby....does she think you have a crystal ball or what?  That's just crazy.

I don't think waiting for MIL to return from a camping trip should be considered part of your schedule. It's her decision to go or not, but you shouldn't have to worry about her on top of everything else. some people...Confused

  • The best thing for you to do is to "play along". Urge her to go on her camping trip and tell her you will definitely give her 3 days notice before the baby arrives. Take it from me, you don't always get to choose your induction date. So, you can blame that on the doctor. I definitely think it best that she is camping when you deliver! Ughh...

  • Hahaha!  Three days before I went into labor, I had a dr's appt where I was "maybe a fingertip" dilated, and they were saying I would probably need to schedule an induction so as not to go past 39 weeks.  Three days later I was 37 weeks and she was coming ...

Send her off on her trip with a smile and then immediately go have something spicy for dinner.  Wink

  • Wow, she is really unbelievable! Like MrsBeans, three days before my water broke I was only a fingertip dilated and they were talking about scheduling an induction too. You just never know :)
  • Wow. That is awful! Sorry you are having to deal with her!
  • I would just file that under "in one ear and out the other." ?

Ha!  That sounds familiar.  My MIL has twins, too, and their bday is right around when I was due.  She basically tried to convince me to have my twins on her twins' bday.  I kept saying my goal was to get to 37w, which would've been 10/25.  My BILs' bday is 10/26 so whenever I told people my goal was 10/25 she could correct me and say 10/26.  I told her more than once my goal was 37w, not their bday!!!

I didn't know we had the same MIL!  My MIL wanted me to have DS on her b-day which was 4 days past my due date.  Seriously?  Who wishes anyone to go past their due date?!  And like your MIL, she was constantly correcting me as to when my DS was due....oh, fun times.
