How long did you bleed afterwards? I didn't realize it could be so long. I was planning on getting one now, but jenn&tim's post made me realize the beginning of summer might not be the best idea if I'm going to be bleeding for months!
Everyone is diff, and not knowing I would wait till summer is over since you just dont know how your body will react. I was still spotting when I went in weeks later for my checkup.
Like I said everyone is diff but I just woudlnt do it now. It is really nice and i do love it now that I dont have the period. Having it when I did was okay to once it got to normal bc it was REALLY light. And not spending the $$ every month is a bonus too.

I haven't read Jenn's post but for me, when I got it the first time, pre-baby, I don't remember bleeding long at all - maybe a week? But when I got it this time, at 8 weeks postpartum, I bled pretty heavily for about 2 weeks. And then spotted for another couple of weeks. So all in all I'd say about 5 weeks. I've had it in 12 weeks now and I can't remember the last time I spotted.......
I got my first PP period right after getting my IUD, so I don't know how much of that bleeding was actually from its insertion. But I only bled like a week afterwards. I got Paragard though, which is nonhormonal.
For 3 months, I had some form of bleeding: anywhere from spotting to a light bleeding (I was BFing at the time). The 4th month I had some random spotting, but now I haven't had but one spotting episode/month (maybe what is my period??). My OB said to expect bleeding x 3 mos after insertion.
Although the bleeding is a big pain, it's so worth it!!
