Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Add your DC eating vents here!

1. I only make a little of something b/c it hasn't been a huge hit in the past but they attack it like wolves.  I run back to the kitchen to cut up more and BAM! they don't want anymore. Example: EXPENSIVE organic strawberries.

2. Loving something one day and refusing it the next.

3. LUKE!  He's my vent.  He literally cries everytime I put anything new on his tray.  I often stuff food in his mouth (it looks like abuse) just so he'll realize he likes something.  bananas, waffles, peas, carrots and graham crackers are the only thing I don't have to do this w/.

4. At random - taking their arm and sweeping their tray full of food back and forth and then continue eating.  Really, dudes?  1/2 your food is on the floor!

5. I've gained weight b/c I end up eating WAY too much of the food they don't eat.  MUST STOP!

Re: Add your DC eating vents here!

  • My DD won't eat anything that isn't a puree except for an occasional puff, and she doesn't even like those that much.  Every day I try to get her to eat something other that a puree and she refuses.  She won't even eat mashed up ripe bananas, only the pureed baby food ones.  I know she'll eventually eat solids but it's just so frustrating now.

  • 1. I am tired of DS thinking Gerber lil crunchies are a meal.

    2. I am tired of opening 2-3 things cause DS wont eat any of it.  But yet when I sit down with my pizza rolls he begs to eat some!

    3. I hate it that almost everything that is put on his tray ends up on the floor or smashed to bits in his hair!

    4. I to often stuff food in DS mouth so he relizes its food.  But it never seems to work, cause he than pulls it out of his mouth and throws it on the floor.

    5.  I just wish DS would eat more "normal" food than he would baby food!!  ANd he wont even eat the stage 3s yet, we are still on #2!

  • Honestly, I could handle any of it  (the inconsistent appetite, the mess, the wasted food, etc.......) if he would just STOP THROWING FOOD ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!! OMG, it is so annoying.

I so relate.  My husband gave up and gave Maddie graham cracker and peanut butter for dinner tonight, because it was the only thing he knew she would eat.

The one that really drives me crazy, though, is when she whines for me to give her some of my food just to turn around and throw it on the floor!!!

  • Wow, I am so sorry to hear all of your stories!  My baby eats any and everything without issue!  The only thing that *slightly* annoys me is when she eats a ton of food and then turns around and begs for my dinner, lol.  C'mon I fed you first so I could eat in peace!
  • Wow perfect night for this....

I am frusturated that DS refuses to eat stuff he used to eat all of the time. The only thing I could get him to eat for dinner tonight was strawberries and pineapple. That was even rough I had to cheerlead for him everytime he took a bite. I wish my old GOOD eater would come back.

  • My DS isnt 12 months yet, but we are all about food frustrations so I have to post...

    1. The big one is refusing fruit/veggie purees, but wont self feed them either (doesnt like anything wet or soft). The only way he is getting any fruits and veggies right now is mixing them into his yobaby and sneaking them back into the yogurt container. He seems to only like meat and carbs- what a boy.

    2. feeding the dog his food, and laughing of course- grrr!

    3. refusing to wear a bib (cries or rips it off). Makes meal time really messy.

    4. loves something one day, hates it the next. Is mac n cheese really so bad to cause a meltdown?

    5. ditto the weight gain, i eat all of DS's rejects.

  • DD is actually a pretty good eater, but she's gotten hives from eggs, zucchini, and something that I gave her last night (peas, maybe?).  I totally stress out anytime I give her something new, and I feel like it makes it hard for me to come up with a varied menu for her.
  • Allergies to wheat, soy, peanuts, egg whites, oats and dairy.  I think that about sums it up.
