we're doing family pics when my parents come to visit- ds should be 1 month... after that it all depends... i do a lil dabbling with photography so i'll probably only do professional pics if we do a family pic

We are doing professional newborn pics the week we come home from the hospital.?

If we can fit it in the budget, we will do pro pics at least at 6 months and 12 months, but we bought a nice dslr to do the monthly pics ourselves. ?

ETA: By "pro pics" I do not mean studio type places like Kiddie Kandids or Picture People - we will be having a photographer come to our home or to an outdoor location around town. ?

I honestly don't think we'll do professional ones for a very long time. My SO and a few friends dabble in photography and they're all fantastic with it (and have professional cameras), so I will use their services. Plus, we have a hook-up with a design firm and professional printer in the area and the SO is a website designer/graphic artist so he can make our announcements and anything else we need. It is good to have connections!

We have a photographer coming to do newborn pics in the first 10 days. I don't plan to do any other professional until 1 year - not a big fan of Sears/Kiddie Kandids, etc. We bought a digital SLR so we can take nice pics ourselves.

Newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, then birthdays. That is what we did with DS, it's amazng how much they change the first year!

With DD #1, we did Newborn pics and then every month for the first six months. After that we did 9 months and 1 year. Some people at first though we were going overboard but I can tell you now that I have never regretted doing them every month the first 6 months because she just changed sooo much! We went to Portrait Innovations for the pics, and they have a big package for just $9.99 so if I wanted, I could just get the large package. We plan on doing the same thing for DD #2.

We will probably do them every 6 months the first couple years, then every birthday plus family Christmas pictures. My mom likes to randomly get family pictures so whenever she does that she'll probably get pictures of Killian by himself. We are a little picture crazy in our family!!

I don't know where you are in Georgia, but we are using a photographer in Acworth who has a package called The First Year Sessions. $875 gets you a maternity, newborn, three month, six month, and one year session, rights to all the digital images and a proof album, a coffee table album of the best of the sessions, and a $200 print credit. If that's anywhere near you, check her out at www.atlantarockphotography.com. It's a 50-mile drive from our house to hers, but the price is so good it's worth the drive.

That is a great package! ?I'm torn b/c we have a good friend in Auburn who has started a photography business (he does weddings), so I know he can do some shoots for us. ?I just think we want someone with baby experience for newborn pics (and maybe either 6 months or 1 year pics). ?I still might have to take advantage of that awesome deal though...?

I'm a photographer and I do these packages where we do a photo session the first week or two after birth.
Then we do one at about 4 months, 8 months and then 12 months.

We have a friend who is a professional photographer. She'll be coming to the hospital to take pics, then within a week to do newborn. We'll probably have her take our Christmas ones too.
