Safeway has never had delivery service in my area. I was just checking specials online and it looks like they have it now! I'm unreasonably excited. I only wish they had it when I was on bedrest.
Anyhow, I see the delivery charge is $12.95 but there are coupons for free delivery. I'm thinking shopping online might actually save us some $$?? I stick to the list each week but it somehow I end up spending a fortune.
Anyone use it and like it? Don't like it?
Re: Whoa...anyone use Safeway.com for delivery?
I've used it. And I LOVE it! It actually saves me money, I buy less things that I "think" I need only to get home and find that I already had 2 of. And less impulse buys. Once you use it once they start emailing you coupons all the time.

There are, you can choose a day and a two hour or four hour window before you even start shopping.
I don't know about tipping...I imagine probably?
I've used it maybe a dozen times. I don't like the long windows during the day but maybe evening would be okay.
I've had issues with availability. One time, they were all out of Lean Cuisines. Really? And once they forgot to deliver all of my frozen stuff. And substitutions - be careful - I asked for diced onions and peppers and got the coleslaw mix. I don't care for it for produce really. But then if you say no subs - you're s.o.l. for something you know they should have. Like spinach. They are Safeway for crying out loud.
So I guess I have a love/hate relationship because I will still do it every so often though when I mention it to DH he shakes his head at me.
I've used it a few times.
Likes: I stick to my list and have a good idea of how much I'm spending, it's convenient, it's easy to use, good customer service, you can check nutrition info on items
Dislikes: The shoppers aren't always good at picking produce, they sometimes run late (the drivers usually call to let you know), they've gotten my order wrong (but if you call customer service they'll refund you)
They are not supposed to accept tips. And if they do, they could be fired. Typically the driver is not who shopped for you, and if you tip them, they are accepting it and usually not sharing it with the people who did the shopping for you.
I like it and dislike it for the same reasons everyone else has mentioned. On a side note, for some reason I almost always end up with somehting I didn't pay for in my bags. And the most random things. Once it was cookies, once it was water, and once it was a pack of Always pads. I found that funny.
We have a local veggie stand where I'd prefer to get my produce anyway so that works better for me. I'm going to try it next week...wish me luck!
And lol @ Joann. Always pads. Hee.
